In the Future...

...chainsaw-wielding robot submarines will prowl lake beds, harvesting hundreds of millions of forgotten trees.

Cool!

Down here in Louisiana we have cypress trees that make very pretty lumber for furniture and homes. Cypress from very old large trees has the amazing characteristic of being rot proof and termite proof. You see an old ramshackle house in the middle of a swamp that looks like it should have fallen down years ago, but for some reason hasn't - the lumber is probably from old, large cypress trees.

Unfortunately cypress trees take hundreds of years to mature before they are rot-proof, and most of the old large trees have been milled years ago for this valuable lumber.

But, entrepreneurs have begun looking in the bottoms of lakes, rivers, and swamps for these old cypress logs. These old trees could have been submerged since the Civil War, but it doesn't matter.

A little sub like this would be a big help if it could see through our murky waters. I wonder…
