Hubble telescope: February, 2004.
We must find a way to save the Hubble. Not only has it shown us a universe we never imagined in our wildest dreams, it is also showing us a universe we have imagined in our wildest dreams.
That's worth saving.

Those who should be championing the Hubble seem to be comforting themselves with the notion that there will be a replacement launched in ten years or so.
Plans change. What if it doesn't get launched for another 15 years?
And why should we have only one space-based telescope? The scientific community has never been satisfied with just one earth-based telescope.
Two space-based telescopes could double the available hours for astronomers. And if the two telescopes worked together it would improve their sensitivity and depth perception.
