Recently, the elevator has encountered a problem: A material or composite based on SWNT's has not been developed in the required amount and specificity to preserve the orignial tensile strength that these structures possess..

However, what about getting seperate cables---around the curvature of the Earth that all connect to the geocentric satelite. The pressure, thus, would be distributed amongst these cables instead of resorting to just one.

One cable could be implemented directly below the asteroid for ascension..However the strain from the centripetal force would be abated by the other cables---thus reducing the required tensile strength. I am not expert, thus, I yearn for an explanation.
