My beef with the Eros Project is that they somehow move from philosophical grounds to legal maneuver. Ie, they have the right to make a claim to Eros. I do too.

But then to assert that the US government (or anyone else for that matter) should recognize that claim merely because the Eros Project made the claim and filled out some official paperwork is absurd. I'm concerned that they're taking in investors with talk of mining Eros and then squandering that money on pointless legal tactics.

Finally, by their actions they're obviously going to try to parasitize anything that happens on Eros. In particular, NASA crashed a probe into Eros, they want NASA to pay a "$20 parking fee for a 99 year lease" (part of the trigger for the current batch of lawsuits). If someone were to mine Eros today, you can bet these guys will horn in on the action.
